The allure of Old Hollywood mixes with traditional sportswear designs featuring kimono-like ease and elegant fits. She’s dressing for herself; with moments of reflection, rebuilding and reinventing, to emerge stronger, smarter, and ready to change the world.
The iconic Villa Caroline in Georgetown, Connecticut was the perfect backdrop for the story of this collection. Former home to Roland Mattson and his dear friend and muse, Carrie Miller, this historic spot embodies luxurious lifestyle with an emphasis on art, music and nature. Nestled amidst wild-spirited gardens, the sun-soaked villa once served as a painting studio and art gallery for emerging artists.
The definition of a free spirit, Carrie secretly purchased a car that she hid from her husband and taught herself to drive. She was known to be wonderfully independent for a woman of her time. Mattson was a successful milliner to the society set, as well as a composer, painter and gourmet cook. Roland and Carrie hosted regular festive gatherings at Villa Caroline; guests included Ingrid Rockafeller & Liberace.
